Staying productive while travelling
/Younger generations are now travelling more than ever, and we’re seeing an increasing number of people incorporate travel into their daily lives, working abroad from their laptops in order to earn as they go.
In order to keep productive, it’s a good idea to head to destinations that are work-friendly, whether that’s low-noise, with good lighting and, of course, great Wi-Fi.
If you’re working from your own accommodation and it’s a little different to what you’re used to, you can try to adapt with the things that can improve your working environment such as having an air conditioner, linen curtains to block out sunlight and keep your room cool or sunglasses if you are working outside.
Need some better ideas? Here are a few more tips to help you stay productive while travelling and working.
Make a daily checklist
Remote working while travelling should be an easy transition for those who can manage their daily activities. But before you start remote working, you must set your goals first.
Begin to list your activities in daily, weekly, or monthly formats, as lists help you to remember what you need to do, plan your day accordingly and keep track of what you have done and what is outstanding.
Daily checklists also help you to use your time efficiently if you also create a schedule or allocate a specific time to each task. It is also important to give yourself extra time to take a break, so that you do not become worn out or exhausted.
Eliminate distractions
If you are working in a foreign country, distractions will be aplenty. It is important to do some research before you decide to work abroad, considering things like the law, culture, health and hygiene, and, also, food and drink.
The other thing you must prepare of course is money. It is helpful to have some idea of the cost of living expenses in your destination, so you can be prepared and budget well/
Work hard, play hard
Working hard and playing hard is not only a clichéd statement, but it is the truth of being a digital nomad or working abroad. Don’t forget, that whilst it is important to work well, do your job and earn money, it is also important to create time to enjoy the destinations that you visit, immerse yourself in the culture and make the most of your travels. Otherwise, you may as well stay at home.
