A new way to explore a city with locals
/A London-based company have launched a service which allows people to book locals in several cities across the globe.
CityUnscripted are aiming to connect travellers ‘who want to be discoverers and not tourists’ with locals providing personalised outings.
The ‘Book A Local’ service is available in 13 cities across eight different countries with a network of 500+ locals covering over 25 languages available to offer bespoke experiences for customers.
It launched in April just in the United Kingdom’s capital, but has just expanded to feature 12 more cities including New York, Rome, Paris and Manchester.
To celebrate the launch, the company is offering free bookings to the first five enquiries into each city, with the expansion also covering Barcelona, Madrid, Bologna, Amsterdam, Berlin, Edinburgh, Tokyo and San Francisco.
To claim a tour, interested parties need to email info@cityunscripted.com stating their preferred city, time and date for a two hour ‘Book A Local’ experience. If the first five positions for the city have already been filled, then a member of the CityUnscripted team will inform unsuccessful applicants.
The service is touted by the company as “completely trustworthy and safe and secure as each Local is individually vetted verifies, insured and trained by the CityUnscripted team.”
The idea behind it is that Locals can create personalised itineraries based on what discoverers want to do and see and give specialised insight into their city, making the experience more real and human. Prices start from £25 per hour for one or two adults, while children are free.
Nick Whitfield, Founder and CEO of CityUnscripted said: “Since our ‘Book a Local’ service launched in London this April, it’s been incredibly popular and we’re excited to meet this demand with the launch of 12 new cities globally.
“Adding these new destinations to our portfolio is a big step in our expansion and we look forward to helping people across the world branch away from conventional tours and discover the city with the help of an insider.”
CityUnscripted launched in April 2016 and offer an authentic and personalised travel service offering immersive city experiences as well as planning and booking tools to help travellers get to know a city through the eyes of a like-minded local.
Travelling as part of your job is super-exciting, but some people think it’s a holiday – and I can actually see why they might.
